Elaphoglossum lindenii (Bory ex Fée) T.Moore, Index Fil. View in CoL 11. 1857. ( Fig. 53E–G View FIGURE 53 )
= Elaphoglossum squamatum (Sw.) T.Moore, Index Fil. 15. 1857.
Range: — Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama; Colombia and Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP), Chile and Brazil.
Ecology: —Fairly common but local; saxicolous and terrestrial on rock faces, steep slopes, and road banks, in humid to semihumid habitats; 2900–4300 m.
Notes: —Like most of the widespread species in the genus, E. lindenii varies considerably in leaf size, shape, and indument. The name E. squamatum , which has been applied to this species in recently published floras (e.g., Rodríguez 1995, Idárraga-Piedrahita et al. 2011), is illegimate and cannot be used (see Morton 1939).
