Range: — Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia (LP), and Brazil.
Ecology: —Rare; terrestrial in humid montane yungas forest; to 1475 m.
Notes: —This species is currently known from a single collection in Bolivia ( Fuentes 17043, LPB). It can be confused with E. polyblepharum (sect. Polytrichia ), which differs by the absence of hydathodes and fertile leaves that are much shorter than the sterile ones.
