Range: — Ecuador to Bolivia.
Ecology: —Common; epiphytic, rarely saxixolous, in humid forests; 1900–3200 m.
Notes: —This species may be easily confused with E. molle , but the leaves typically are longer and relatively narrower, and the blade scales are even sparser, abaxially erect, and funnel-shaped. Kessler & Mickel (2006) indicated a holotype (Nee & Bohs 49764) at NY, with duplicates at LPB, MO, USZ, and UT. The specimen at LPB, however, was mislabelled and actually represents E. catenatum . It should not be considered an isotype .
