Range: —Southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC) and Amazonian Brazil.
Ecology: —Common; hemiepiphytic in humid forests; to 600(–1900) m.
Notes: — Polybotrya goyazensis Brade , from central Brazil and Paraguay, has been collected close to the border with Brazil and is likely to occur in northeastern Bolivia ( Moran 1987a). It differs from P. caudata in having shiny reddish to castaneous, membranaceous, spreading, denticulate, and usually basally cordate rhizome scales 6–16 mm long.
