Range: — Costa Rica and Panama, Andes from Ecuador to Bolivia (LP).

Ecology: —Rare; hemiepiphytic, often terrestrial, in humid forests; 700–1900 m.

Notes: —In the field, recognized by thick, translucent mucilage on the rhizome apices and lower 5–15 cm of the petioles. This mucilage is lost on dried specimens.
