Characters: Frontal lobes high, bluntly pointed with concave margins. Antero-lateral teeth nine, equally arranged, narrow, outer margin straight or slightly concave. Chelipeds and legs marked with polygonal patternings in both sexes and on female abdomen.

Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala. East coast: West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu. Islands: Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Elsewhere: South Africa, Red Sea, Mauritius, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Timor, Australia, Western Samoa, Solomon Islands, Fiji and New Caledonia.
