Zeasampa Nomura and Leschen View in CoL , new genus ( Figs. 18B View Fig , 21 View Fig , 22 View Fig )

Type species: Zeasampa nunni Nomura and Leschen , new species.

Diagnosis. Body relatively small (2.14–2.38 mm), with dorsal surfaces of the head, pronotum, and elytra smooth ( Fig. 18B View Fig ). Head transverse, wider than prothorax and broad, widest just before antennal base, strongly flattened anteriad, weakly narrowed posteriad, vertex almost flat, with pair of dorsal tentorial pits; posterior constriction not notched, with lateral fovea present; postgenae moderate, venter not bearded ( Fig. 21B View Fig ). Eyes very small, not visible in dorsal view ( Fig. 18B View Fig ). Antennae long and slender, each reaching elytral base, with insertions hidden in dorsal view; antennomere I very large, asymmetrically thickened in male, about as long as antennomeres II–V; antennal club formed by VII–XI in male; antennal tubercles absent. Maxillary palpi short, elongate; palpomere IV largest, subcylindrical. Pronotum narrower than head, rounded laterally, with pair of small lateral foveae at about basal 1/3 ( Fig. 21A View Fig ). Metaventrite very large, weakly convex ( Fig. 21E View Fig ). Elytra very large, about as long as head + pronotum in dorsal view, slightly broadened posteriad, each elytron gently flattened dorsally, with complete adsutural sulcus, without basal foveae ( Fig. 21F View Fig ). Prosternum lacking lateral and median longitudinal carinae. Ventral foveae simple and reduced, those present as follows: gula (head); lateral procoxal (prosternum). Legs long, slender, smooth on dorsal surface; 1 tarsal claw present.

Abdomen about as long as and slightly narrower than elytra, sides subparallel; abdominal segments II–VII subequal in length, each transverse, IV–VI each with pair of narrow, subparallelsided paratergites ( Fig. 21G View Fig ). Male genitalia weakly sclerotized, median lobe asymmetrical ( Fig. 22D, E View Fig ).

Remarks. Zeasampa may be allied to Neosampa in having an elongate body, a transverse and anteriorly flattened head, the prosternum lacking lateral carinae, and a subparallel-sided abdomen. However, Zeasampa is remarkably different by the smooth and broad head, pronotum and elytra smooth on dorsal surface, the very thick head, asymmetrically thickened antennomere I, and elytra completely lacking basal foveae.

Etymology. This new generic name is formed by the prefix “ Zea -” combined with the latter part of the related genus Neosampa .
