Synonyms: Arrenurus variegator Koch, 1837 (original deisgnation); Acercus koenikei Barrois & Moniez, 1887 ; Pseudofeltria vanrensburgi Bader, 1994

Type material: Deposited in NHMB: Holotype one male, catalogue number 4458; Paratype: One male, catalogue number 4459 ( GBIF 2022; Plazi.org 2022) .

Type locality: Switzerland: Ticino ( GBIF 2022) .

Geographical distribution: Palaearctic ( Gerecke et al. 2016).

Distribution in Portugal: Centre: Beira Alta ( Valdecasas 1988), in Côa River, near 10 km to Vilar Formoso ( Lundblad 1956); South: Estremadura ( Valdecasas 1988), in Colares, Sintra municipality ( Lundblad 1956).

Ecological notes: Occurs in eutrophic, oligotrophic and dystrophic lakes and slow-running streams, from coast to a depth of 50 m ( Gerecke et al. 2016); clean waters, covered with Azolla spp. ; and present in Juncus spp. and Myriophyllum spp. ( Lundblad 1956) .
