Type material: Holotype one male catalogue number NMB-ACWA 2713 deposited at NHMB (Pers. comm, U. Wüest)
Type locality: Algeria: Jijel Province, Oued Nil ( Walter 1925).
Geographical distribution: European ( France, Iberian Peninsula and Italy) and North African Mediterranean area ( Gerecke et al. 2016).
Distribution in Portugal: Centre: Beira Alta (in Santa Comba Dão, and Côa River, near 10 km to Vilar Formoso); South:Alentejo (in Ribeira de Odivelas, Ribeira do Roxo, and Guadiana River-between Serpa and Beja municipalities), Estremadura (in Colares-Sintra municipality) ( Lundblad 1956; Valdecasas 1988).
Ecological notes: Freshwater, at standing and slow-flowing freshwater ecosystems ( Gerecke et al. 2016), shaded and clear tributaries, on a sandy bottom; present in plants, such as grasses Azolla spp. , Batrachium spp. , Carex spp. , Juncus spp. , Myriophyllum spp. , Nymphea spp. , Scirpus spp. ( Lundblad 1956) .
