Paragolsinda Breuning, 1956 View in CoL
Paragolsinda Breuning, 1956: 675 View in CoL ; 1959: 49.
Type species: P. fruhstorferi Breuning, 1956 , by monotypy.
Redescription. Body elongate, oblong in shape. Eyes strongly emarginated or almost subdivided; lower lobes relatively large, slightly wider than long. Antennal tubercles elevated. Antennae rather long and thick; each segment without apical spine, evenly fringed beneath by suberect short setae which become sparser towards the apical segments; scape rather long, straightly thickened apically with a well developed cicatrix on the apex; third segment slightly curved, distinctly longer than scape and fourth, respectively; the last segment of male bent inwardly near the extreme apex. Pronotum wider than long, with three feeble discal tubercles; each lateral projection vestigial. Prosternal process not projected below, roundly sloped in lateral view. Mesosternal process with a well developed tubercle on the center near the apex, almost truncate in lateral view. Elytra with well developed obtuse bosses near base; disk lacking long suberect hairs; apex with outer angle gently rounded. Mesotibiae without sulcus on anterior side.
Endophallus. Endophallus moderate in length, almost twice as long as median lobe. BPH nearly 0.2 times as long as endophallus. MPH nearly 0.7 times as long as endophallus, subdivided into two membrane subdivisions as almost fused MT+CT and PB by a distinct constriction; PB moderately long. APH rather short, nearly 0.1 times as long as endophallus, well swollen and oblong bursiform, with ED and AS on dorsal side. MSp usually distributed in apical 2/3 of MT+CT. LSp relatively large, uni-dentate, rather thick and short, arranged into two irregular lines between latero-ventral side and dorsal side in basal 1/3 of MT+CT. SSp uni-dentate, short and small, covered almost entire area of PB. MSp area and LSp area adjacent. LSp area and SSp area are separated but close to each other. ED arising from dorsal side of APH, connected with basal part of AS. AS consisted of a rod-like sclerite.
Notes. This genus shares some superficial similarities with the genus Mesoereis or the genus Eurymesosa , but distinguishable from them by having deeply emarginate eyes, developed obtuse bosses near base of elytra.
We were not able to observe the male genitalia of P. fruhstorferi Breuning, 1956 which is the type species of this genus. The above definition of the endophallic structures is based on the other three species.
