Ptinus concinnus Marsham, 1802: 87 (original description, nomen oblitum, see Orledge & Booth 2016).

Ennearthron ondreji Roubal, 1919: 63 (original description), syn. nov.

Type localities. Ennearthron cornutum : “Svecia [based on the title]”; Ptinus concinnus : “Britannia” [based on the title]; Ennearthron ondreji : “Těberda”.

Distribution. Widely distributed in western Palaearctic; found also in Hokkaido ( Japan), the Jilin province of China ( Królik 2020) and Iran ( Amini et al. 2020).

Bourdot & Galzin , P. tremulae (Bondartsev) Bondartsev & N. P. Borisov , Piptoporus betulinus (Bull.) P. Karst. , Polyporus squamosus (Huds.) Fr. , Porodaedalea pini (Brot.) Murrill , Schizopora paradoxa (Schrad.) Donk , Stereum gausapatum (Fr.) Fr. , S. hirsutum (Willd.) Pers. , Trichaptum abietinum (Pers. ex J. F. Gmel.) Ryvarden ( Reibnitz 1999, Rose 2012, Rose & Zagatti 2016).

Comments. Roubal (1919) described Ennearthron ondreji explicitly based on one male. The differential diagnosis in the original description is missing. There is only information that E. ondreji is of the same size as Octotemnus glabriculus ( Gyllenhal, 1827) and that it does not resemble any known species. The examination of the holotype showed that it is a dark-coloured male of E. cornutum , which is a widespread species whose colouring varies from light brown to almost black. Consequently, I propose the following new synonymy: Ennearthron cornutum ( Gyllenhal, 1827) = Ennearthron ondreji Roubal, 1919 , syn. nov.
