Type localities. Ennearthron cornutum : “Svecia [based on the title]”; Ptinus concinnus : “Britannia” [based on the title]; Ennearthron ondreji : “Těberda”.
Types examined. Ennearthron ondreji : Holotype: ♁ ( Figs 20–23 View FIGURES 20–23 ), “Ca. b. Teberda / VI. 912 Roubal [w, p] // Ondřeji m. [h] / Roubal det. [w, p] // [blank orange rectangular label]” ( SNM).
Distribution. Widely distributed in western Palaearctic; found also in Hokkaido ( Japan), the Jilin province of China ( Królik 2020) and Iran ( Amini et al. 2020).

Ryvarden ( Reibnitz 1999, Rose 2012, Rose & Zagatti 2016).
Comments. Roubal (1919) described Ennearthron ondreji explicitly based on one male. The differential diagnosis in the original description is missing. There is only information that E. ondreji is of the same size as Octotemnus glabriculus ( Gyllenhal, 1827) and that it does not resemble any known species. The examination of the holotype showed that it is a dark-coloured male of E. cornutum , which is a widespread species whose colouring varies from light brown to almost black. Consequently, I propose the following new synonymy: Ennearthron cornutum ( Gyllenhal, 1827) = Ennearthron ondreji Roubal, 1919 , syn. nov.
