Material examined. 1 male, CL 11.23 mm, CW 12. 45 mm ( ZUTC 5645 ), Persian Gulf, 26°33′N, 54°01′E, cobble bed, 01.12.2003 GoogleMaps ; 1 female, CL 10.12 mm, CW 13.45 mm ( ZUTC 5647 ), Persian Gulf, 26°33′N, 54°01′E, cobble bed, 01.12.2003 GoogleMaps
Remarks. The present specimens are apparently adult. The present unidentified species of Pilumnus has sharp lateral teeth (incl. of the exorbital tooth) triangular and acute; the outer surface of chelipeds have rows of large, elongated conical spines. This species does not belong to any of the previously recorded species in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, and we could not assign it to any species known from the Indo-West Pacific ( Klunzinger 1913; Alcock 1898; Stephensen 1946; Apel 2001; Naderloo et al. 2016; Naderloo 2017; El-Sayed et al. 2019). It may be undescribed or referable to a number of poorly known species of Pilumnus from the region that require revision.
