Taxonomic notes
Bates and Harrison (1997) included this species for Myanmar without comment on the basis of two specimens in The Natural History Museum London (BMNH.50.468/ 472) from Sumka Uma in Kachin State. It was subsequently included as a ‘provision- al record’ in the faunal list of Bates et al. (2000). However, a study of the baculum of specimen BMNH.50.468 for this paper revealed that it was incorrectly identified and should have been referred to P. coro- mandra. Therefore, P. pipistrellus should be omitted from the Myanmar list of bat spe- cies until data supporting its presence are found.
