ACCEPTED NAME. — Diospyros thorellii (Lecomte) T.H.Nguyên.
TYPES. — Cochinchina. Baloa [= Vietnam. <Ba loa>], 1862-1866, Thorel 788 (lecto-, P [ P00721767 ]!, designated here ; isolecto-, L [ L.3783622 ]!; P [ P007217668 , P00721769 , P00721770 ]!; SING!) .
NOTES
Lecomte (1928b: 145) cited Thorel 789 from “Cochinchine: Baloa” in the protologue.When Nguyen (1996: 73) transferred this species to Diospyros as D. thorellii , he also cited Thorel 789 (P) as the type. This collection has not been located, but we found that four of the six sheets of Thorel 788 were determined as Maba thorelii by Lecomte. Here, we designate the specimen P00721767 as the lectotype.
