(Figures 1, 3, 11–16, 23, 27, 30, 33)
Peritropisca bituberculata Carvalho & Lorenzato 1978: 146 View in CoL , Figs. 78–81 (sp. nov.); Carvalho & Froeschner 1987: 133 (list); Schuh 1995: 34 (catalog), 2002–2013 (online catalog); Gorczyca 2000: 49 (list), 2006: 64 (catalog).
Diagnosis. Recognized by posterior lobe of pronotum with moderately developed medial keel ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 23 – 33 ), pretarsal claw without subapical tooth, characteristic shape of endosoma ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ), apical process of left paramere in dorsal view moderately sharpened and elongated at extreme apex and with deep subapical incision ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ), right paramere with indistinct apical tubercle on inner surface of paramere body (AT) ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ).
Redescription. Male. COLORATION (Fig. 1, 3). General dorsal coloration fuscous dark brown with numerous yellowish, brown, and reddish, developed, irregular patches. Head. Mostly yellow with fuscous, brownish, and reddish areas; vertex with posterior margin yellow with four regular patches contiguous with pronotal collar: two blackish, slightly red-tinged broad patches situated laterally, behind each eye, contiguous with posterior margin on eye, and almost reaching gula, two additional medial patches on posterior vertical margin brownish red, medial longitudinal incision on vertex fuscous to dark brown; frons red-tinged medially and laterally with broad, fuscous tinge contiguous with lateral margin of eye, encircling antennal insertion; mandibular and maxillary plates mostly reddish brown; mandibular plate with small, yellow patch dorsally; clypeus blackish with yellowish patch basally; gula and buccula dirty yellowish, tinged with red; antenna mostly dark brownish with brown and dirty yellowish areas; segment I brownish with relatively broad, whitish annulation beyond base; segment II brownish, with blackish apical third; segments III and IV blackish; segment I entirely yellow; segment II yellowish at basal half, fuscous at apical half; segments III and IV fuscous. Thorax. Pronotum. With mottled, dirty yellowish, brownish, and blackish coloration; collar with relatively large, yellow patch medially; calli apically dirty yellowish brown, tinged with red, and blackish basolateral portion contiguous with blackish tinge on remainder of anterior lobe of pronotum; posterior lobe dark brownish, mottled with dirty yellowish, irregular patches, medial keel contrastingly pale, yellow (Fig. 1). Mesoscutum and scutellum. Blackish with rather small, yellowish patch apically (Fig. 1). Thoracic pleura. Proepisternum and anterior half of proepimeron brownish; posterior half of proepimeron and mesepimeron dark brown; metepisternum brownish, tinged with red; scent gland efferent system contrastingly yellow (Fig. 3). Hemelytron. Corium and clavus mottled, dirty yellowish brown; embolium yellow with irregularly distributed reddish spots and patches; cuneus entirely reddish with small, yellowish spots; membrane varying from fuscous to blackish with yellowish tinge inside cells and yellowish, relatively large patch medially contiguous with apical portion of major cell (Fig. 1). Legs. Procoxa fuscous, redtinged; meso- and metacoxae entirely yellowish except for small, fuscous reddish patch basally; pro- and mesofemora dark red with fuscous areas and three, broad yellowish annulations basally, near medially and apically; metafemur dark reddish fuscous, yellowish basally, and with broad medial, yellowish annulation; tibiae yellow with four fuscous annulations: one basally, two medially and fourth apically; tarsi dirty yellowish (Figs. 1, 3). Abdomen. Entirely dark reddish (Fig. 3). STRUCTURE, TEXTURE, AND VESTITURE (Figs. 1, 3, 23, 27, 30, 33). Dorsum covered with setae slightly broadened toward apex. Thorax. Pronotum. Pronotal calli very sharply pointed (Fig. 3); posterior lobe of pronotum with medial keel moderately convex ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 23 – 33 ). Mesoscutum and scutellum. Scutellum slightly convex. Legs. Pretarsal claw not toothed subapically.
Male genitalia. Aedeagus ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ). Endosoma with DSS ending in long, serrate, and sinuate sinistrolateral lobe attached to basal portion of ML; ML strongly broadened toward apex, strongly enlarged, occupying almost half of endosoma; AL nearly ellipsoidal, small, occupying apical one fifth of endosoma. Left paramere ( Figs. 12– 15 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ). Apical process relatively long, in dorsal view with sinuate margins, moderately sharpened and elongated extreme apex and deep subapical incision. Right paramere ( Figs. 16 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ). Paramere body with apical tubercle on inner surface of paramere body (AT) weakly developed and with bundle of relatively dense setae on dorsal surface; apical process sharply pointed.
