Material examined. China: Hainan: Ledong Co., Jianfengling Mountains : 1 ♂, 1 ♀, Botanical Garden (N18º73.794', E108º85.847', alt. 905 m), 28 April 2009, S.Q. Li ( IZCAS) ; 1 ♂, Bishu Villa (E18º74.425', N109º84.269', alt. 977 m), 26 April 2009, S.Q. Li ( IZCAS) ; 1 ♂, a hill near the Huxiaolongyin Scenic Spots (N18.45.159’, E108.547.604’, alt. 900 m), 20 July 2007, S.Q. Li ( IZCAS) .
Species identification. There are six species in this genus and only the male of this species is known from simple figures ( Simon 1897). The female was described by Thorell as Libania armillata Thorell, 1890 and without subsequent description ( Platnick 2010). It was thought our specimens should be Cebrenninus rugosus Simon, 1887 (P. T. Lehtinen, pers. comm.).
Description. Male: Total length 4.20. Prosoma 2.20 long, 1.90 wide; Opisthosoma 2.10 long, 1.60 wide. Prosoma blackish brown, with denticles and setae. Eye measurements: AME 0.06; ALE 0.18; PME 0.07; PLE 0.16; AME–AME 0.12; AME–ALE 0.31; PME–PME 0.22; PME–PLE 0.16. MOA length 0.32 with front width 0.24 and back width 0.37. Chelicera, gnathecoxa, labium and sternum blackish brown, chelicerae with 3 pro- and 2 retromarginal teeth, the larger retromarginal tooth bifid distally. Legs with sparse spines. Tibiae, metatarsi of I, II with 5, 3 pairs of ventral spines, respectively. Leg formula: II, I, IV, III; leg measurements: I: 8.20 (2.50, 3.10, 1.60, 1.00); II: 8.60 (2.60, 3.30, 1.70, 1.00); III: 5.80 (1.80, 2.10, 1.20, 0.70); IV: 6.05 (1.85, 2.10, 1.40, 0.70). Opithosoma with grayish black stripes and 4 pairs of small white spots.
Palp ( Figs 18 A–C, 19 A–B). Palp with a large RTA; sperm ducts visible in tegulum; median apophysis curved; embolus long; median apophysis curved, shaped like a bird beak.
Female. general appearance similar as male. Total length 5.30. Prosoma 2.10 long, 2.10 wide; Opisthosoma 3.10 long, 2.60 wide. Eye measurements: AME 0.06; ALE 0.19; PME 0.08; PLE 0.16; AME–AME 0.16; AME–ALE 0.18; PME–PME 0.28; PME–PLE 0.30. MOA length 0.36 with front width 0.28 and back width 0.42, leg formula: II, I, IV, III; leg measurements: I: 8.20 (2.50, 3.10, 1.60, 1.00); II: 8.60 (2.60, 3.30, 1.70, 1.00); III: 5.80 (1.80, 2.10, 1.20, 0.70); IV: 6.05 (1.85, 2.10, 1.40, 0.70).
Epigynum ( Figs 18 D–E, 19 C–D). Epigynum with a glasses-shaped, sclerotized plate; copulatory ducts short, invisible dorsally; spermathecae large, olive-shaped.
Distribution. Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines; China (Hainan, Yunnan).
Habitat. We collected 3 specimens by sweeping the bushes and low vegetation. Another specimen was collected from underground by sieving.
Remark. The specimens of Cebrenninus described by one of the authors (Tang et al. 2009: 41–42, figs 1A–F) deserve further study, referring to the different ratio of the embolus/median apophysis compared to C. rugosus .
