Forewing M 5-9 branched, hindwing M 2-6 branched. Forewing pterostigma broadly triangular, lower angle round- ed, in some species strongly projected towards Rs. Pterostigma wholly pigmented or with a hyaline basal area in the lower angle, in the middle or posteriorly. With or without a crossvein between the forewing 2A to the wing margin. Hypandrium of 3 or 5 sclerites, a large central one, flanked by 2 or 4 smaller sclerites. A tuft of macrosetae on each side of the longitudinal midline of the central sclerite. With or without a tuft of macrosetae on the inner border of the side sclerites of the hypandrium. Male epiproct with or without a promontory with microspines mesally near the anterior border. Phallosome with a transverse mesal sclerite (ms), with a posterior elongate process on each side (msp); one pair of anterior (ae) and lateral endophallic sclerites (les), variable in shape distally. Female subgenital plate simple, v2+3 with an anterior heel, and ninth sternum variously pigmented.
