Type series

SYNTYPES: TANZANIA: ‘‘1 „ zwischen Uhehe und lringa am 1. März 1899 durch Herrn Botaniker W. Götze erbeutet’’; ‘‘13 „ und 4 ♀ hat Herr Stabsarzt Dr. Fülleborn am 21. und 22. September 1899 zwischen Idunda und Iringa in Uhehe gesammelt’’. All presumably in MNHU, Berlin .

Type discussion

Papilio fuelleborni Karsch (1900) was described from the 14 male and four female syntypes listed above. No holotype was originally selected, and so far as we are aware no lectotype has been designated. According to Horn et al. (1990), F. Karsch was an entomologist at ‘‘ Zool. Mus. Berlin’ ’ where most of his type material was deposited, and Fülleborn’s collection from ‘‘Deutsch- Ostafrika (Nyassa-See)’’ was also deposited there. MNHU, Berlin is listed as the type depository on the GloBIS/ GART database website (Häuser et al. 2005b) .

Under the ICZN (1999) Code, Article 32.5.2.1, fülleborni is an ‘‘incorrect original spelling’’ that must be corrected to fuelleborni .
