50. Pieridae View in CoL View at ENA – whites, marbles, and sulphurs
Members of this family are medium-sized butterflies without tails; most have predominantly white, yellow, or orange wings. Th e hindwings have two anal veins. Androconial scales are usually present on the dorsal wing surfaces. Forelegs do not have an epiphysis on the tibia. Larvae feed on a variety of plants.
Approximately 1000 species of Pieridae are known worldwide. Seventy-three species are known from North America, 23 of which are reported from AB.
