Diagnosis. The color of the head, thorax, and forewings tends to be more brownish compared to S. albicana . Unlike in S. albicana , where the median fascia is bisected by a white line, the median fascia in this species is of the same color. In the male genitalia, the socii is horn-shaped, as opposed to being straight, the valva is thicker. The cucullus is inflated ventrad and closer to a kidney shaped. In the female genitalia, the ostium bursae is larger and is less indented in the center.
Description. Adult. Wingspan 12–18 mm; head and thorax brown; frons with moderate, projecting scales in upper part, apricot, remainder of frons with minute, brown, appressed scales; labial palpus porrect, apricot, anterior straight protruded; second segment large, strongly, sinuate; terminal segment short, slender; antennae reaching to beyond middle of forewing, flagellum with basal notch in male; forewing length 4.6–6.8 mm; ground color alternating light brown and white; narrowly subrectangular, slightly widening distally and curved part protrudes anteriorly in female; chorda from halfway between R 1 and R 2 to extends R 5; M-stem usually appears as weak trace in membrane, extends to M 3; CuA 1 strongly curved and distally approximated to M 3; CuP faintly visible near boundary; costa strigulae white, indicated by pair; strigulae 1 and 2 located in basal fascia confluent with wing pattern, indistinct compared to other strigulae; strigulae 3 to 6 located in basal fascia confluent with wing pattern; pair strigulae 7 extend to inner and outer line, respectively; strigulae 8 and 9 extend to outer line; angled striped pattern from base to termen, repeated dark brown and apricot; tornal blotch brown, with black spots in middle and upper parts, with faintly gray spots in lower, subtriangular pattern, from dorsum 2/3 to tornus; apex brown; speculum ground color brown, inner and outer line of speculum color silver, line of speculum extended to tornus, with 3 to 5 small black inner spots; hindwing dark apricot, with thin and long hairs on anal margin, and short hairs on termen; Rs and M 1 closely approximated at base; base of M 2 strongly bent towards M 3; M 3 and CuA 1 basal stalked and apical separated, sometimes combined into one stalked; CuP halfway between CuA 2 and 1A+2A.
Pregenital abdomen. Membranous pockets in female between S6 and S7, small, half circle shaped; in male hindmargin of S8 strongly bilobed, T8 with inverted T-shaped sclerotisation.
Male genitalia. Uncus absent; socii tapering apically, bent inward apex; tegumen robust, with strong shoulders; tuba analis membranous; gnathos two weak, lateral bands; aedeagus 1/2 of length from tegumen to vinculum, bends lightly, deciduous cornuti; anellus ring; caulis long and wide, inverted trapezoid; juxta triangular; vinculum small, valva long, tapering to neck; basal opening large, about half width of valva, round rectangular shaped; sacculus hairy; cucullus kidney-shaped, protrudes upward and downward, setae moderately dense; one pollex on edge.
Female genitalia. Papillae anales with long and short hairs; sterigma fused with hindmargin of S7, vestigial above ostium; ostium small; lamella antevaginalis towering, wide, medially concave, bifid peaks, both ends curves downward; posterior portion of ductus bursae sclerotised to conspicuously narrow; colliculum about half as long as ductus bursae, sclerotised except at origin of ductus seminalis; ductus seminalis arising at posterior end of colliculum; corpus bursae roundish, minutely spinulose with weakly sclerotised area in neck; signa pair, subtriangular, equal size.
Host plant. Unknown.
Distribution. Korea (GG, GN, GW), Japan ( Nasu 2021).
Remarks. Similar to the species recorded as Spilonota Sp. 3 by Nasu (2021). We compared it with samples owned by Nasu and concluded that the new species is the same. In this paper, we also provide the sample photographs provided by Nasu ( Figs 2H View FIGURE 2 , 4H View FIGURE 4 ).
Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition referred to holotype locality, Mt. Samseong.
