Onomaus Distant, 1904 View in CoL View at ENA

( Figs. 44–53 View FIGURES44–53 )

Onomaus Distant, 1904c: 416 View in CoL (as new genus) (type species by original designation: Onomaus pompeus Distant, 1904c View in CoL from Myanmar; monotypic). Onomaus: Pathak 1969: 34 View in CoL – 35 (citation from India in PhD); Carvalho & Gross 1979: 523 – 530 (revision, redescription, key); Schuh 1995: 682 (catalogue); Zheng et al. 2005: 58 – 62, 685 (redescription, in fauna); Schuh 2002 – 2013 (online catalogue).

Diagnosis. Elongate, middle-sized to large bugs (total length between 5.9 and 9.6 mm), with long, erect setae mainly present on scutellum. Vertex slightly sulcate. Eyes neither prominent, nor substylate, obviously separated from pronotal collar. First antennal segment thick, elongate, about two times as long as the head width. Pronotal collar long, slightly longer than first antennal segment maximal width. Pronotal callosities wide, fused medially, reaching pronotal lateral margins. Humeral angles rounded, not produced. Pronotal disk almost smooth, sometimes slightly punctate, punctation shallow, denser apically. Pronotal lateral margins almost straight but deeply narrowed at anterior third. Mesoscutum uncovered. Lateral sides of scutellum not crenelated. Clavus opaque. A line of relatively deep and wide points present along clavo-corial but not along embolio-corial suture (in O. elegans , the punctation along embolio-corial suture reduced, apparently absent in several other species of the genus). Corium including embolium transparent to translucent.

Distribution. China (Guizhou, Hunan), India (Assam), Japan (Kyushu), Myanmar.

Two species in India.
