Type species: Tegestria johorea Roewer, 1936 , by monotypy.

Diagnosis. Sarasinicinae: Ocularium with a long median spine. Dorsal scutum unarmed. Pedipalpal femur straight, ventrally with five and distally with one or two seta-tipped tubercles on mesal side. Distitarsus of leg I with three segments.

Distribution. Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Borneo.

Presently nine: Tegestria johorea Roewer, 1936 , Tegestria pinangensis ( Thorell, 1890) , Tegestria borneensis Roewer, 1938 , Tegestria seriata Roewer, 1938 , Tegestria coniata Roewer, 1938 , Tegestria sumatrana Roewer, 1938 , Tegestria montana Roewer, 1938 , Tegestria parva Suzuki, 1969 , and Tegestria altmannae sp. nov..

Notes. The genus Tegestria was introduced twice as new by Roewer (1936, 1938) and he introduced the same specimens as type (No. 10365). According to the Principle of Priority, Article XXIII of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN), the valid nomenclatural act is Tegestria Roewer, 1936 and the type species is Tegestria johorea Roewer, 1936 (agreeing with Kury et al. 2022).
