Potamonectes kashmirensis ( Régimbart, 1899) - sensu Vazirani (1970)

Potamonectes kashmirensis ( Régimbart, 1899) ; Vazirani (1970: 123) (valid species).

In Vazirani (1970) the author gives a diagnosis for Potamonectes kashmirensis , and the description matches most of the features of N. airumlus View in CoL , senior synonym of the species name Hydroporus kashmirensis Régimbart. However , the male characters (anterior claws, paramere and median lobe of aedeagus) described and figured for this taxon clearly belong to a male of the Nebrioporus laeviventris View in CoL -group, instead of the depressus View in CoL -group to which N. airumlus View in CoL belongs. In his publication, Vazirani (1970) asserts to seeing one female type from Kashmir, a specimen from Turkestan and specimens from India (Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh) and Pakistan. With certainty, Vazirani’s (1970) concept of Potamonectes kashmirensis includes specimens belonging to at least two species: N. airumlus View in CoL and a species of the laeviventris View in CoL -group, may be N. indicus View in CoL .
