Genus Ematheudes Zeller, 1867 View in CoL
type species: Chilo punctellus Treitschke, 1833: 195 , by monotypy.
= Proavitheudes Amsel, 1961: 334 View in CoL . type species: Proavitheudes persicella Amsel, 1961: 334 , by original designation and monotypy. Type locality: Iran: Jaz Mu- rian.
Diagnosis. Ematheudes is characterized by a narrow valva with basal sclerotised process (enlarged and spikeshaped in Afrotropical species) on the costal margin in combination with medially split uncus in the male genitalia. The female genitalia are recognizable by a short medial emargination on the posterior margin of sternum VIII in combination with a signum in the shape of rounded plate covered with short spines. Peoria is very similar but ductus bursae is usually narrower and subostial lobes are absent. Externally Ematheudes species are rather broad winged Anerastiini with long weakly downcurved labial palpus, which may be confused with species of the genus Hypsotropa , but labial palpus in latter are upturned.
Distribution. Thirty two species were reported from the Afrotropical region ( Shaffer 1998; De Prins & De Prins 2019), two species in the Palaearctic and one species in the Neotropical region ( Leraut 2014; Nuss et al. 2003 –2019). One species is known from Ukraine.
