Type species: Celebesia acuticerca Bolívar, 1917 , by original designation.

Description. Body stout, rugosely punctured; size medium for the tribe. Head shorter than pronotum. Face in profile strongly reclinate. Fastigium of vertex projecting forward at the distance less than the half of eye length; foveolae long, triangle. Vertex between eyes considerably narrower than an eye. Frontal ridge distinct, with margins narrowed between antennal bases; in profile excised below the antennal bases. Antennae filiform but basal segments of the flagellum weakly widened. Pronotum slightly widened posteriorly; median carina low and crossed by two transverse furrows; prozona considerably longer than metazona; lateral carinae are traced in metazona only; anterior margin of the pronotal disc not excised, posterior margin of the pronotum near median carina rounded. Prosternal spine conical. Mesosternal lobes widely separated. Tegmina and wings well developed, reaching the apex of abdomen. Hind femora stout; ventral genicular lobes of hind knee without spine. Hind tibiae without outer apical spine. Hind tarsi short, not longer than the half of hind tibiae; arolium large, reaching the apex of claws. Tympanum present. Male 10th tergite with distinct furculae; supra-anal plate triangular or subquadrate; cerci elongated, flattened laterally and bent downwards in profile, with rounded apex; subgenital plate short. Female supra-anal plate triangular; cerci short, conical with obtuse apex; subgenital plate with triangle rounded apex; valves of ovipositor straight, at apex hooked.

Composition. There are three species endemic to Sulawesi Island, namely Celebesia acuticerca Bolívar, 1917 from Minahassa Peninsula, C. ferruginata ( Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1898) from Tolitoli in the northern part of Central Sulawesi province, and C. heinrichi Ramme, 1941 from Bantimurung at about 50 km N of Makassar in the province South Sulawesi ( Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1898; Bolívar, 1917; Ramme, 1941). One new species is described below.
