Desertellio elongatus Röder, Steinlein, Schmid & Linsenmair 1993: 339. Material examined. Holotype, female, Caucasus, Taschburun, in A. Brandt collection, det. Budde-Lund ( NHBM 1921.10.18–4103); holotype of H. e. transcaspius, male, S Turkmenistan, Tagalok, 9 April 1951, leg. O. A. Kryzhanovski ( ZMMU Mc-610); paratypes of H. e. transcaspius, same data as holotype, four males ( ZMMU Mc- 610).

Remarks. Budde-Lund (1885) established H. elongatus based on one female from Azerbaijan and Borutzky (1955) described a new subspecies, H. e. transcaspius, from Turkmenistan. A detailed history, taxonomic status and redescription of H. elongatus were presented in Kashani & Sari (2012). They introduced the presence of high character variability within and among populations of the species and suggested to abandon the subspecific status (as proposed by Borutzky 1955) for the species. In this contribution, only data for the type specimens are provided.

This species is somehow similar to H. heptneri but readily distinguished by the arrangement of dorsal tuberculation ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 ) and the shape of pleopod endopodite I with a leaf-like lobe at apex.

Distribution. “Transcaucasus”; easternmost Turkey: Ararat; Turkmenistan; Iran.
