MELOUIA gen. n.

Type species Melouia aspidophoralis Agassiz.

Head of male with inwardly curved maxillary palpi which are longer than labial palpi. Forewing with costa straight, termen sinuate beneath apex. Hindwing of male with anal angle produced. Abdomen of male much enlarged with a curved dorsal plate.

The genus is named in honour of Gastón Melou, a collector who was based in Madagascar in 1917 whose collection was acquired by Walter Rothschild for NHMUK.
