Type species: Asulconotus chinghaiensis Ying, 1974 , by monotypy and original designation.

Diagnosis. Size small. Head shorter than pronotum; vertex broad, dorsum roundly swelling with indistinct median carina, fastigial foveolae absent; antennae filiform; frons faintly oblique in profile; frontal costa flat above median ocellus then finely depressed below median ocellus. Pronotum with posterior margin strongly excised in the middle; median carina distinct, lateral carinae distinct or sometimes faint; hind transverse sulcus absent between lateral carinae. Tegmen lanceolate, lateral in both genders. Tympanum developed. The stridulatory pegs on the internal side of hind femur present. Male 10 th abdominal tergite with or without furcula. Epiproct triangular. Cerci long conical. Subgenital plate conical. Valves of ovipositor narrow.

Composition and distribution: Three species, A. chinghaiensis Ying, 1974 , A. kozlovi Mistshenko, 1981 and A. jiuzhiensis Yin, Zheng & Yin, 2012 were heretofore assigned to the genus Asulconotus . In this paper one species Asulconotus acarinatus , sp. nov. is described as new to science. Thus, four species are currently in this genus, mainly distributed in Qinghai and Sichuan, China.
