Anomiopsoides fedemariai Ocampo, 2007 View in CoL

This species is known only from Mendoza and San Juan provinces. It was first encountered by us in the early afternoon (14:00–15:00) at the intersection of RN 142 with the R´ıo Mendoza (32.16°S; 68.49°W; 550 m elevation) ( Fig. 3 View Figs ) on 26 December 2016, an unusually overcast day, which may have been the reason that the beetles were active at this time of day. They are normally found during midmorning and late afternoon ( Ocampo 2007). Thirteen specimens (seven males and six females) were observed, and three others (two males and one female) were encountered on a second visit on the sunny mid-morning (09:00–10:00) of 30 December 2016. All specimens were found in sparsely covered grassy areas of the sand dunes lining the west bank of the river, and none were seen transporting any material, although dried goat dung pellets and horse dung were available GoogleMaps .
