Family Daphnidae Straus, 1820

Simocephalus Schoedler, 1858 . One juvenile animal of the genus Simocephalus was found in a well at Bronswinkel on Bonaire ( Rammner 1933).

Ceriodaphnia rigaudi Richard, 1894 . C. rigaudi Richard, 1894 ( Rammner 1933) is sometimes considered a nomen nudum ( Kotov et al. 2013). The valid name is considered to be Ceriodaphnia cornuta Sars, 1885 . A description of an unhorned ‘form’ of C. cornuta was given by Richard (1894) as C. rigaudi . Rzoska (1956) believed it to be a polymorphic species, with all forms merging in each other in one population ( Zaret 1969). Today, these taxa are considered to be a species complex, with several undescribed Neotropical species ( Sharma & Kotov 2013). The valid name of C. rigaudi is from Asian ( Tonkin) material, and the animals from St. Maarten should be examined in detail, together with the original description. The typical form was found in a walled well with alkaline, mesohaline water at Pos Baca ( Rammner 1933). C. rigaudi was common in Freshpond North and South on St. Maarten in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2008.

Ceriodaphnia quadrangula O.F. Müller, 1785 . C. quadrangula was found together with Leberis davidi in a well at Bronswinkel ( Bonaire) by Rammner (1933).
