Diagnosis. Antennal scrobes join below frontal suture; female flagellomeres short and stout ( Fig. 76 View FIGURES 72–77 ), 1 st flagellomere as long as wide, 2–3 transverse; male scape dark and 2.4× as long as wide ( Fig. 77 View FIGURES 72–77 ); scutellum flattened and smooth and shiny ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 72–77 ); propodeum with median carina with sides straight and diverging towards posterior part, and with anterior part blunt ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 72–77 ); first gastral tergite with posterior ¼ with engraved reticulation ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES 72–77 ). In the key in Hansson (2009), H. gabrielae runs either to H. dryas (couplet F38) from which it differs in having much longer female gaster and shorter petiole (male is unknown in H. dryas ), or to H. carolinensis (couplet F57) from which it differs in having a much longer gaster in female (male is unknown in H. carolinensis ) and with sides of median carina on propodeum straight and diverging towards posterior part ( H. carolinensis with sides of carina rounded and converging in posterior part).
Description. FEMALE. Length 2.0– 2.3 mm. Scape yellowish-brown; pedicel and flagellum dark brown with metallic tinges. Frons golden. Vertex golden-green. Mesoscutum black with golden tinges, scutellum black, propodeum black with golden-green tinges. Coxae black with metallic bluish-green tinges; femora dark brown, tibiae and tarsi yellowish-white, 4 th tarsomere dark brown. Wings hyaline. Petiole metallic dark purple. Gaster with reticulate parts metallic dark purple, smooth and shiny parts black with golden-green tinges.
Antenna as in Fig. 76 View FIGURES 72–77 . Frons with interscrobal and clypeal area smooth, part just above frontal suture with raised and weak reticulation, remaining parts with raised and strong reticulation; frontal suture V-shaped and complete; antennal scrobes join below frontal suture. Vertex with engraved and strong reticulation; with a median groove in posterior part, groove continues down on occiput. Occipital margin rounded.
Mesoscutum with engraved reticulation; notauli as narrow and distinct grooves throughout. Scutellum flattened, smooth and shiny with very weak traces of reticulation in some places. Dorsellum smooth, with a row of pits along anterior margin. Coxae smooth with very weak engraved reticulation. Propodeum smooth and shiny, submedian grooves reticulate, anterolateral foveae reticulate but indistinctly delimited; propodeal callus with 3 setae. Forewing speculum closed below; with 17 admarginal setae.
Gaster with first tergite smooth and shiny in anterior ¾, posterior ⅓ with engraved reticulation.
