Metrichia trisignata spec. nov.
( Figs 5 View FIGURES 4–6 A–5E, 14A,16A)
Holotype ♂, Colombia, Bogotá, Chapinero, Quebrada La Vieja , 16.xi.2016, hand net, leg. W. Mey, genitalia slide Mey 02/17 ( ICN).
Paratypes: 4♂ 1♀, same locality, 6.ii.2017, hand net, leg. W. Mey, genitalia slide Mey 05/18 ( MfN) ; 1♂, Cundinamarca, Machetá, Termales los Volcanes , 9.xi.2016, leg. W. Mey, hand net, genitalia slide Mey 11/17 ( MfN) .
Etymology. The Latin adjective trisignata , “with three spots,” refers to the three dark spots on the apical margin of each inferior appendage of the male genitalia.
Description. Male and female (16A). Length of each forewing 2.7–2.8 mm; head and palpi dark brown, vertex with grey hairs; antennae short, each with 21 dark brown flagellomeres, apical segment acute; ocelli large, blackringed; legs dark brown, hind tibiae with long hairs dorsally, spurs 1.3.4. Abdominal segment II with complex architecture on ventral side ( Figs 5 View FIGURES 4–6 D—5E); male sternum VII with short ventral process; sternum VIII reduced and transversely narrow ventrally.
Male genitalia ( Figs 5 View FIGURES 4–6 A–5C, 14A): Ninth segment in lateral aspect subtriangular, about one and one-half times as long as high, posterior margin arcuate, anterior margin with narrower, rounded projection elongate anteroventrally; superior appendages ball-like; segment X lightly sclerotized, small and triangular in lateral view; dorsolateral hooks long, each with apical half curved ventrad; inferior appendages in lateral view broad, dorsal margin convex, ventral margin nearly straight and apical margin truncate, with three darkened points or small teeth at apical angles; phallic apparatus tubular, enlarged at base, narrow and sinuate in lateral view, with two curved, subapical spines; middle section of phallic apparatus sclerotized, ductus seminalis slightly sinoid and dark.
Diagnosis. The new species seems closely related to M. malada Flint 1991 based on the overall similarity in shape and structure of inferior appendages and phallic apparatus. However, M. trisignata spec. nov. can be distinguished from that species by the more quadrate shape of the inferior appendages each bearing three small teeth or dark points on the apical margin, and by the simple apices of the dorsolateral hooks.
