T y p e m a t e r i a l: Holotype: ♀. Type locality: Brazil, Caraça, P. Germain, 2 nd Semestre, 1884 ( MNHN).

D i a g n o s i s: Body and legs black; elytra mostly testaceous, each elytron with rectangular fascia.

D e s c r i p t i o n: Size: Length 8.0 mm; width 1.3 mm. Form: As in Fig. 6 View Figs 5-8 . Head: Capitulum slightly obtuse; (EW/FW 30/75). Thorax: Elytral disc partially roughly punctate; (PL/PW 150/150); (EL/EW 340/85). Abdomen: Female pygidium scutiform.

E t y m o l o g y: The species name, caraca, constitutes a noun in apposition and refers to the type locality.
