Paratypes: 7 specimens. BOLIVIA: Departamento de La Paz , Callanga, G. Garlepp ( WOPC,2) ; La Paz, Callanga ( WOPC, 1). PERU: Provincia de Moyobamba ; M. de Mathan, 1888 ( MNHN, 1) ; Provincia de Satipo ; 15-IX-1941, P. Paprzycki ( WFBM, 1) ; Provincia de Alto Amazonas , 1894 ( MNHN, 2) .
D i a g n o s i s: Cranium red; antenna and femora bicolored; pronotum mostly black, with faint red spot; each elytron 4 with yellow fasciae.
D e s c r i p t i o n: Size: Length 6.0 mm; width 2.0 mm. Form: As in Fig. 35 View Figs 33-36 . Head: (EW/FW 20/50). Thorax: Pronotal and elytral discs finely punctate; (PL/PW 110/110); (EL/EW 220/70). Abdomen: Aedeagus ( Fig. 90 View Figs 83-91 ).
V a r i a t i o n: The pronotum is mostly red in some specimens. Length 5.0-7-0 mm; width 1.0- 1.2 mm.
E t y m o l o g y: The species name, maldonado, constitutes a noun in apposition and refers to the type locality.
