Dorsum (Fig. 16). dorsal shield 300 (297–310) long and 180 (178–186) wide, strongly reticulated, with five pairs of solenostomes (gd2, gd5, gd6, gd8 and gd9); 18 pairs of setae on the dorsal shield and two pairs of setae on the unsclerotised cuticle: j1 13 (11–14), j3 18 (17–20), j4 15 (14–16), j5 18 (18–22), j6 17 (16–19), J2 21 (19–23), J5 9 (8–11), z2 17 (16–18), z3 19 (18–21), z4 21 (20–23), z5 19 (18–20), Z4 28 (26–30), Z5 40 (38–41), s4 21 (20–23), s6 24 (23–26), S2 23 (22–25), S4 25 (23–27), S5 18 (16–19), r3 20 (18–21), R1 20 (18–21). All setae smooth with pointed tip except the setae Z4 and Z5 which are serrated. Seta Z5 with bulbous tip.

Peritreme (Fig. 16). Extending beyond the bases of j1.

Venter (Fig. 17). All shields are smooth. Sternal shield 60 (58–63) long and 68 (65–71) wide at level of setae ST1–ST3 and ST3–ST3 respectively, with three pairs of setae and two pairs of lyrifissures; one pair of setae ST4 23 (20–24) on metasternal plate; posterior margin of sternal shield with a indistinct loop. Distances between ST2–ST2 57 (55–60), ST5–ST5 58 (56–64). Two pairs of metapodal shields present, primary shield triangular, 18 long and 5 wide; secondary shield small 8 long. Ventrianal shield wide pentagonal 99 (98–102) long, 79 (75–80) wide at level of ZV2 and 70 (68–72) at anus level with four pairs of pre-anal setae JV1 13 (11–14), JV2 10 (8–11), JV3 14 (12–15), ZV2 14 (13–15) and one pair of pre-anal pores. Membrane surrounding ventrianal shield with four pairs of setae ZV1 15 (14–17), ZV3 12 (10–13), JV4 13 (11–14) and JV5 32 (30–33), seta JV5 long, smooth with bulbous tip. Setae a1 12 (10–13), a2 12 (10–13), a3 13 (10–13) surrounding the anal region.

Chelicera (Fig. 18). Fixed digit 25 (24–27) long with four anterior teeth and one posterior tooth to distinct pilus dentilis, movable digit 28 (26–29) long with three teeth.

Spermatheca (Fig. 19). Calyx bell shaped 15 (14–16) long, wider at base of vesicle and narrow at atrium with clearly visible broad, flattened major duct and minor duct.

Leg (Fig. 20). Leg IV with only one macrosetae in basitarsus. All leg setae are pointed while tip of macrosetae is bulbous 17 (15–19) long. Chaetotactic formula of genu II: 1–2/0. 2/1–1 and genu III: 1–2/1. 2/0–1. Length of leg I 255 (252–262), leg II 221 (218–224), leg III 218 (216–221) and leg IV 277 (274–287).

Type specimens. Holotype: female (Acarol.lab/ BCKV/8365/2019) deposited in the NZC, Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata, collected from Amla tree, ( Phyllanthus emblica L.: Phyllanthaceae ), at Sagar Island: 21°43’29.1”N 88°07’14.4”E, 7 m above mean sea level, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal on 16 th November 2019; five paratype females (Acarol.lab/ BCKV /8366–70/2019) with same collection data as holotype.

Etymology. The specific name sagaricus refers to the type locality “Sagar Island” from where this species was collected.

Remarks. The new species Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) sagaricus is close to T. (A.) dahungensis Pramanik & Karmakar, 2016 ; T. (A.) homalii Gupta, 1970 ; T. (A.) meyerae Schultz, 1973 ; T. (A.) paganus Van der Merwe, 1968 , but they differ from the new species by pattern of dorsal shield setae, posterior margin of sternal shield, spermatheca and tip of macrosetae of leg IV. All the dorsal shield setae smooth except Z4 and Z5, posterior margin of sternal shield with loop and ST3 on the sternal shield, tip of macrosetae on tarsus of leg IV is bulbous and spermatheca bell shaped in the new species versus posterior margin of sternal shield wavy and concave, leg IV with three macrosetae in T. (A.) dahungensis . In the new species posterior margin of sternal shield with a distinct loop; movable digit of chelicerae with three distinct teeth versus posterior margin indistinct and movable digit toothless in T. (A.) homalii . The new species differs from T. (A.) meyerae by posterior margin of sternal shield with a loop; leg IV with single macrosetae versus posterior margin of sternal shield without loop; and leg IV with three macrosetae on genu, tibia and tarsus. The new species differs from the T. (A.) paganus by ST3 on the sternal shield versus ST3 out of the sternal shield; and by shape of spermateca (bell shaped versus long tubular) and also by number of macrosetae of leg IV (single seta on tarsus versus three setae on genu, tibia and tarsus). The differences between Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) sagaricus sp. nov. and the close species are given in table 4.
