10. Holosticha pullaster (Müller, 1773) Foissner View in CoL ,

Blatterer, Berger and Kohmann, 1991 ( Fig. 10 View Fig )

Material examined. Freshwater with debris collected from Gyeongpocheon River , Unjeong-dong , Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, Korea (37°47 ʹ 20 ʺ N, 128°54 ʹ 34 ʺ E) on January18, 2018 GoogleMaps .

Diagnosis. Body size about 80 × 25 μm in vivo, 38-48 × 10-12 μm after protargol impregnation; body wide spin- dle shape; both body ends narrowly rounded; cytoplasm colorless; one contractile vacuole at left side of subterminal; cytoplasmic granules conspicuous under cortex; cortical granules lacking; 2 macronuclear nodules; 7-8 distal and 15 proximal membranelles; 3 frontal cirri; 1 buccal cirrus; 2 frontoterminal cirri; 9-10 transverse cirri; 7-9 midventral pairs; 10-11 right and 11-13 left marginal cirri; 4 dorsal kineties.

Distribution. Cosmopolitan.

Remarks. The Korean population of H. pullaster has cytoplasmic granules under the cortex were scattered throughout the whole body. Holosticha pullaster is the sole limnetic Holosticha species and the posteriorly located contractile vacuole differentiates from its congeners ( Berger, 2006).

Voucher slide. One slide of protargol-impregnated specimens was deposited at National Institute of Biological Resources, Korea (NIBRPR0000109467).
