Range: —Western Mexico; Costa Rica; northern Venezuela; Suriname, Trinidad; central Brazil to Bolivia (LP).
Ecology: — Rare and probably overlooked, known from one collection in Bolivia: Williams 2657 ( NY) ; terrestrial in semihumid to dry forests; 1800 m.
Notes: —Most similar to Selaginella minima , differing by the greenish leaf and sporophyll margins (vs. hyaline), by lacking stomata on the adaxial leaf surfaces (vs. stomata usually present), and by yellow megaspores (vs. whitish).
