Distribution:— India, Western Ghats (Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu), endemic.

Notes:— Eugenia laeta was described by Buchanan-Hamilton (1826) based on the specimens collected by him from Mysore. In the protologue he mentioned that the specimens are with J.E. Smith (Smith herbarium, LINN-HS) and from there he brought specimens to home in 1806. At present, only one specimen of E. laeta collected by Buchanan-Hamilton from Yellapur, Mysore (now Uttara Kannada district) is extant at BM (BM000944163), which is designated here as the lectotype.

Wight (1841) described Eugenia pauciflora based on the specimens collected by him from Courtallum. Two specimens were traced for the name E. pauciflora Wight , each one at K (K000793905) and MH (MH00006586). The better preserve K000793905, is designated here as the lectotype.
