Current status. Trox sordidatus Balthasar, 1936 , see PITTINO (2006).

Remark. Although PITTINO (1983) indicated this specimen as a holotype, there was no evidence on the length of the type series in the original description. Riccardo Pittino labeled it as a junior subjective synonym of Trox hispidus (Pontoppidan, 1763) , but this synonymy was never published. Moreover, PITTINO (2006) reported it as a valid species.
