Pecluma pectinata View in CoL (L.) M.G.Price, Amer. Fern J. 73(3): 115. 1983.
= Polypodium pectinatum View in CoL L., Sp. Pl. 2: 1085. 1753.
Range: —Antilles; Costa Rica to Bolivia (BE, SC).
Ecology: —Rare, known from two Bolivian collections, both juvenile; epiphytic, in humid forests; 400–650 m.
Notes: —This is primarily a species of the Antilles, and specimens from Central America and South America are uncommon, scattered, and sometimes of questionable identity.Andean specimens seen are mostly from low elevations, eastern side of the Andes. Pecluma pectinata differs from P. camptophyllaria by the strongly and abruptly reduced proximal pinnae, and shorter (<0.2 mm vs. 0.3–0.8 mm long) and less conspicuous hairs on rachises, costae and blade surfaces, and from P. eurybasis by the basal segments reduced to rudimentary wings. The presence of rachis scales on specimens seen from Peru and Bolivia is problematic; if present at all, the scales are inconspicuous. Additional fertile material is needed to verify the presence of this species in Bolivia.
