The type species of the subgenus Robertius is Agrilus robertii Chevrolat, 1838 (by original designation) as follows from the statement of Théry (1947): “La faune paléarctique renferme une epèce, A.roberti Chev. … Je la désigne pour représenter le sousgenre que je nomme Robertius ” and not Agrilus (Robertius) taylori Théry, 1947 as stated e.g. by Bellamy (2003).

The specific name of Agrilus robertii is often cited as roberti . The correct original spelling of this name is Agrilus robertii as following from the description of Chevrolat (1838).

The type species of subgenus Arquagrilus Alexeev, 1998 is Buprestis pratensis Ratzeburg, 1837 a senior subjective synonym of Agrilus robertii . Subgenus Arquagrilus Alexeev, 1998 is thus junior synonym of the subgenus Robertius . For further comments on Arquaagrilus see paragraph below.
