Genus Zeuxoides Sieg, 1980 View in CoL

Remarks. A probable sister genus to Zeuxo within the tanaidid Tribe Anatanaini , Zeuxoides is less species-rich according to current knowledge, with only eleven described species (WoRMS, accessed 17/8/2018). It is distinguished from Zeuxo principally by the uropod’s short terminal segment, generally well-produced apophysis on the pereopod-1 coxa (but see Z. seurati above), and more numerous antennular aesthetascs ( Sieg 1980: 163). The first character is shared, however, with the genus Pancoloides Sieg, 1980 .

Unlike Zeuxo that has been recorded in both Hemispheres, Zeuxoides is known only from the Southern Hemisphere ( Table 9; Sieg 1986b: 186, fig.6) and generally at mid–high latitudes, although the species described below is the most northerly of the genus, at the latitude c. 27°30’S.
