Material examined. 1 juvenile specimen (in poor condition), LIMCE-UFC 782, Fortaleza, off Praia de Meireles, dredge, coll. unknown, iv.2012; 1 ov. female, OUMNH.ZC.2015-01-0003, Icapuí, Praia de Requenguela, Banco dos Cajuais, sea grass mud flat, in burrow, suction pump, coll. A. Anker & P.P.G. Pachelle, 03.vi.2012 [fcn 12-077]; 1 female? (missing most legs), MZUSP 34000, same collection data [fcn 12-078].

Distribution. Western Atlantic: USA (North Carolina) and Caribbean Sea to Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Amapá, Pará, Ceará, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia , São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul); Eastern Atlantic: Cape Verde, Senegal to Nigeria ( Christoffersen 1998; Coelho et al. 2006; Coelho Filho 2006; Almeida et al. 2012; present study).

Remarks. Automate evermanni represents a transisthmian and amphi-Atlantic species complex that will require further studies (Anker, in prep.).
