( Figure 18 View FIGURE 18 )
Ambidexter symmetricus Manning & Chace 1971: 3 View in CoL , figs. 1–2.
Material examined. Brazil, Ceará: 1 male, LIMCE-UFC 692, Icapuí, Praia de Requenguela, Banco dos Cajuais, in sea grass beds, coll. C.B. Mendes, 03.vi.2012 [fcn 12-054].
Distribution. Western Atlantic: USA (Florida), Caribbean Sea, Brazil (Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Bahia , Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina) ( Christoffersen 1998; Riul et al. 2008; Almeida & Bezerra 2011; Almeida et al. 2012; present study).
Remarks. Ambidexter symmetricus , the only Atlantic representative of the genus, is widespread in Brazil, but appears to be rather uncommon or at least difficult to collect due to its cryptic, possibly nocturnal habits.
