Distribution. Western Atlantic: USA (Florida), Bahamas, Lesser Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil (Ceará, Pernambuco, Alagoas) ( Botter-Carvalho et al. 1995, as N. rathbunae ; Calado et al. 1998, as N. rathbunae ; Sakai 2005; Coelho et al. 2007; present study).

Remarks. Neocallichirus maryae , herewith recorded for the first time from Ceará, appears to be one of the commoner large-sized ghost-shrimps on sea grass dominated sand flats, e.g., in Icapuí and Paracuru.
