Description Bacillus niacini CCS-46
Cells are Gram-stain-positive, non-flagellated, and rod-shaped. Colonies grown on Trypticase soy agar (TSA) are circular, convex, smooth, and greyish-ivory colored after incubation 2-3 days at 30°C. Positive for reduction of nitrates, urease, esculin hydrolysis (weakly), and β -galactosidase, but negative for oxidase, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, and gelatin hydrolysis. D-Glucose, N -acetyl-glucosamine (weakly), D-maltose, and potassium gluconate are utilized as sole carbon sources, but not L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid. Strain CCS-46 (= NNIBR2017301BA43) was isolated from sediment of the Chodang Cave, Samcheok-si, Gangwon-do, Korea. The GenBank accession number of 16S rRNA gene sequence is MG780339.
