Ankylopteryx magnimaculata Yang, 1987: 204 View in CoL . Type locality: China (Xizang, Zayü, Dongjiong ). Holotype in CAU.
Diagnosis. This species is characterized by the presence of a pair of quadrate black spots below the antennae, the gena marked with black spots, the pronotum with brown spots on the anterolateral angle, the mesonotum and metanotum covered with brown markings, the pro- and mesotibia with median black spot, and the wings with conspicuous markings along posterior margin, from CuP and spanning five crossveins.
Description. Male. Body length 8.00 mm, forewing length 13.00 mm, hindwing length 12.00 mm.
Head narrow, vertex raised. Compound eyes prominent and black. Antennae pale yellow, scape with brown stripe on outer side. Two quadrate black spots below antennae. Clypeal margin with black stripe. Gena marked black spots.
Pronotum anterior margin shorter than posterior margin, with brown spots on anterolateral angle. Mesonotum and metanotum covered with brown markings.
Legs with dense setae. Pro- and mesotibia with median black spot. Pretarsal claws brown, with basal dilation.
Forewing broad, slightly tapering apically. Pterostigma pale brown. Costal area broad basally, with 23 crossveins; 12 radial crossveins present. Base of Rs with small brown markings. m1 smaller than m2, im quadrate; 7 crossveins present between Psm and Psc. c1 smaller than c2, dcc opened. A large brownish marking along posterior margin, from CuP and spanning five crossveins. A1 forked, A2 and A3 simple. Inner gradate series with 8 crossveins, outer gradate series with 9 crossveins.
Hindwing narrow. Pterostigma pale brown. Costal area with 18 crossveins; 11 radial crossveins and 8 psm-psc crossveins present.A conspicuous brownish marking along posterior margin, from CuP and spanning five crossveins. A1 forked, A2 and A3 simple. Inner gradate series with 4 crossveins, outer gradate series with 5 crossveins.
Material. Holotype ♂, China, Xizang, Zayü, Dongjiong, 1570 m, 1978.VI.26, Fasheng Li ( CAU).
Distribution. China (Xizang).
Remarks. Yang (1987) originally described this species, but without providing genital characters. The abdomen of the type specimen is lost.
