Colias poliographuus Motschulsky, 1861: 9 (TL: Japan, no detail)
Material examined. CHINA: Qinghai: 12 ♂♂ & 7 ♀♀ ( CSK) from Huangzhong (Shangxinzhuang; Shuangzhai village ), Hualong (Chapu), Qilian (Babao) and the road across Lajishan. More than 23 specimens ( CHH) from various localities in Shandong, Beijing, Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and SE. Tibet.
Flight period. Early June to early August in Qinghai.
Altitude. 2400–2900m in Qinghai .
Distributional notes. The eastern end of the distribution of C. erate (Esper, [1805]) in Tibetan limit seems to be at Jilong, SC. Tibet. A few specimens of C. erate were collected by the senior author from a locality at Jilong Town (28.3937N, 85.3602E), with male upper side borders not spotted. C. poliographus is commonly seen in SE. Tibet. But no specimen of either species has been collected from the areas of Nielamu, Yadong and Cuona. In the Himalayan areas, C. erate is recorded from Nepal and C. poliographus from E. Bhutan ( Grieshuber et al. 2012; Grieshuber 2014).
