Punctoprimitia cf. europaea Weyant, 1967
(Pl. II: Figs. 4 View FIGURE 4 & 5)
cf. 1967 Punctoprimitia europaea nov. sp.; Weyant: 9, pl. II, figs. 8–9, pl. IV, fig. 3. cf. 1998 Punctoprimitia africana nov. sp.; Becker: 85–86, pl. 2, figs. 1–3. 2013 Punctoprimitia sp.; Maillet: 82, pl. X, figs. 7–8.
Material. 12 specimens (7 C, 3 V, 2 F).
Description. Medium-sized preplete inflated carapace. The larger LV slightly overlaps the RV at free margins. Hmax at 2/5 anterior; Lmax at 1/3 dorsal; Wmax almost median (slightly anterior). Straight dorsal margin and straight hinge line, reaching about 85% of Lmax. Well rounded free margins, regularly convex. Anterior margin forming an angle of about 110° with dorsal margin. Posterior margin forming an angle of about 105° with dorsal margin.“U”-shaped adductorial sulcus extending from the centre of the valves to the middle of the dorsal margin. Surface finely reticulated, with reticules following the free margins of the valves. In ventral view, marginal parts of the valves are flattened and smooth along the closure line.
Discussion. These specimens show a carapace with a clear adductorial sulcus. The surface is reticulated. Although the ornamentation differs, the general morphology of these specimens is close to that in P. africana Becker, 1998 and to P. europaea Weyant, 1967 . However, quite bad preservation and a low number of collected specimens led to leave them in open nomenclature.
Occurrence. Middle Givetian (Candás Fm, mbs A, B and C), Asturias (Peran-Perlora section).
