Apopyllus atlanticus View in CoL new species

Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 G, 4G, 5G, 6G, 7G, 8G, 9E–F, 10H, 11H, 12H, 13H, 14C Type material. Male holotype from Mampituba, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (29°12'42.22"S 49°56'9.52"W), 01.XI.2006, A. Gonçalves et al. coll., deposited in MCN 52307 GoogleMaps . Paratypes: two females, same data as the holotype ( MCN 52303) GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The specific name is a reference to the distribution of this species mainly in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil.

Diagnosis. Females can be distinguished by the elongated paramedian epigynal pockets, forming an anteriorly directed angle with each other, by the thick AR, by the secondary spermatheca with diameter at least two thirds as long as the primary spermatheca, by the TPD curved dorsally and by the curved (not parallel) PDT ( Figs 10 View FIGURE 10 H, 11H, 12H, 13H). Males can be distinguished by the following combination of characters: the very pointed terminal part of RTA in dorsal and retrobasal views ( Figs 7 View FIGURE 7 G, 8G, 9F), by the gently curved dorsal keel of RTA in apical view ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 E) and by the rhomboidal shape of RTA in retrobasal view ( Figs 7 View FIGURE 7 G, 8G, 9F).

Description. Male (holotype). Total length 4.98. Carapace 2.33 long, 1.85 wide. Femur II 1.52 long. Cymbium widened at level of retrolateral incision. RTA very long, bearing a toothed keel and 2–3 distal teeth. Leg spination: femora III p0-0-1, patellae III p0-0-1, tibiae III v1-2 -2, p1-1-1, r 1-1-1, femora IV p0-0-1, patellae p0-0-1, tibiae IV v1-2 -2.

Female (paratype). Total length 7.08. Carapace 2.49 long, 1.98 wide. Femora II 1.65 long. Eyes sizes and interdistances as in male. Female genitalia with elongated openings. Leg spination: femora III p0-1-1, r0-1-1, patellae III p0-0-1, r0-0-1, tibiae III d0-0-1, v1-2 -2, p1-2-1, r 1-1-1, femora IV p0-1-1, r0-0-1, patellae p0-1-1, r0- 0-1, tibiae IV d0-0-1, v1-2 -2, p1-3-1, r1-3-1.
